Big Plane are Aimee and Jonny White, a husband and wife team that offer web design, development and marketing services. We live in Tetsworth, near Thame, Oxfordshire and have been building websites professionally since 2000.

We are passionate about web design and development and interested in all things to do with the web. We’re dedicated to producing attractive, functional, standards-compliant designs and HTML/CSS/JS code, whether it be for large software applications or boutique brochure websites.

We’re used to building bespoke, custom websites be it creating single page static sites or using Content Management Stystems (CMS) such as WordPress and Joomla. We can also buld you an ecommerce site using WooCommerce, Zen Cart or OpenCart.

We keep up to date with the latest technological developments and design practices and have the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop and maintain working business relationships.

How we work

From start to finish we methodically work through each project, ensuring client objectives are established, met and maintained.

Getting Started

There are many factors to consider when planning a website. Foremost of these is what you want to achieve and then deciding on the best technology to use.

Other factors include usability, standards compliance, search engine optimisation, database options, scripting languages and hosting options.
I’ll sit down with you and take you through all of these options before deciding the best way of fulfilling your goals.

User Experience

UX, UI, Visual Hierachy – a few terms that get bandied about when talking about user experience.

A good user interface (web site) will be easier to use and thus give you higher conversion rates. There are various methods you can use to improve your website, some intuitive and obvious, others less so.

Suffice to say, with over fourteen years web design and development experience, I know many of them and will apply them to your website design.

Design

Once a decision has been made on how your site will be built the next stage is to plan its look and feel.

You obviously want to project a professional image and decisions need to be made on layout, navigation, colour schemes and fonts used throughout the site. I’ll usually start by asking you if you have an existing logo or colour scheme, something to give the design process a starting point. You may have strong ideas on what you want, or have seen effects or functionality on other sites that you would like incorporated.

Development

The next stage is the actual site build – putting into practice all of the decisions so far made.

We’ll have a design to follow with set colour schemes and layouts, as well as all the technical ‘back end’ features that we know must be incorporated. This is the ‘nuts and bolts’ stage where the design and development of your website are seemlessly merged to produce the online presence you’ve been after.

Launch

But it doesn’t end there – you need to tell the world about it! There are numerous paid services that Jon can advise you on, but be confident that your site will be Optimised for Search Engines through the correct use of code.

Continued Support

Once your website is up and running you shouldn’t just let it sit there! Whether you need monthly/quarterly updates, hosting or email accounts setting up, Jon is always at the end of a phone line.

Getting picked up by Search Engines and generating traffic to your site is also very important. There are numerous techniques out there to help get your website noticed that Jon can advise you about.

You may also want to produce monthly newsletters, mailshots or other form of promotion; Jon can design HTML newsletters as well as any printed material you may require.
